What is Slayers?

To understand part of what Mandy is as a role play character it must be understood that she is based off the popular Japanese anime titled Slayers. Slayers is an anime that takes place in the magical world of the "beautiful sorcery genius" called Lina Inverse and her adventures. Her companions, Gourry Gabriev, the jellyfish-brained swordsman, Amelia Wil Tesla Seiruun, the justice-loving princess, and Zelgadis Greywers, the somber chimera, follow along with her on countless adventures for treasure, and for food.

This anime is quite prolific, having many movies, novels, manga and not to mention all the merchandise created just for the series. There are currently three series made for television but a fourth series is in the works titled Slayers REVOLUTION and is the first really big event for the series in about 10 years! It's a pretty exciting time to be a Slayers fan, even for old veterans of the series like myself. Not only is a new series being made but the old novels (and what started the entire Slayers franchise to begin with) are being reprinted, a new manga series is said to be released in the future AND new music CDs are being released this summer. Slayers is seeing a revival that will no doubt bring in new fans as well as make the older ones all the more happy that one of the best anime creations ever is being brought back to life.

Anyways, I highly recommend Slayers to anyone and its a great starter for new fans to become exposed to more anime. It was my first show that actually got me hooked so take it from me, see this show!
